ADVENTURE CAMP COUNSELOR
Position Description

Start Date: June 8th 2008
End Date: July August 2nd 2008
Off Week: June 29th - July 5th 2008

Responsibilities

  • Live in a platform tent with, and be responsible for, 5-7 campers each week
  • Provide guidance and supervision for all campers
  • Manage camper conflicts and discipline campers when necessary
  • Teach outdoor skills and knowledge in areas such as wilderness survival; using a GPS, map, and compass; animals; and geology; training provided
  • Lead activities for campers which include hiking, archery, fishing, boating, mountain biking, arts and crafts, large group games, etc.
  • Assist Activities/Ropes Staff with leading high ropes, zip line, and climbing wall
  • Assist with organizing and preparing for weekly campouts
  • Provide leadership and participate in all activities with campers
  • Lead a daily Bible study with your campers
  • Spend one-on-one time with each of your campers to help evaluate their spiritual needs and find ways to help them on their journey
  • Assist with the cleaning of the Adventure Camp area after every week
  • Be friendly, patient, polite and courteous with campers, staff and guests
  • Maintain daily prayer and quiet times for personal spiritual growth
  • Attend all staff meetings, Bible studies and prayer times
  • Act responsible and mature at all times

Accountability

  • Be accountable to the Adventure Camp Program Director and Executive Director

Qualifications

  • Be a person who has personally accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and shows evidence of Christian growth and maturity

  •  Desire to share your faith with others and seek opportunities to do so

  • Willing to work hard and serve God through serving people

  • Be able to show Jesus Christ through your attitude, actions, and reactions

  • Have the ability to work well with others and be a positive role model

  • Have the desire to teach children about Christ in an outdoor setting

  • Be at least 19 years of age; one year of college preferred, but not required

  • First Aid and CPR required; training provided
